Naturopathic Medicine Mountain Waves Healing Arts is proud to offer Naturopathic services in partnership with Brandie Gowey, NMD founder and CEO of Naturopaths International in Flagstaff. Dr. B's practice is rooted in Nature Cure philosophy, the idea that the body has the ability to heal itself, given the proper nutrients, support, and environment for healing. She offers Taoist acupuncture, homeopathy, nutritional counseling, herbal medicine, physical medicine (adjustments), constitutional hydrotherapy, mind/body medicine, addiction treatment, and IV/IM nutrient therapy. Services offered: Addiction medicine: a detox program that addresses addictions to alcohol, opiates, cigarettes and other narcotics. Includes the initial assessment, physical exam, and labs. Patients are tapered off drugs over the course of several weeks, and may also opt for IV nutritional support, neurotransmitter therapy, acupuncture, counseling, and all other naturopathic therapies. Acupuncture: a system of healing that rebalances patterns of chi in the body Taoist acupuncture: also known as the “Inner nature of acupuncture”, devised by Lonney Jarrett, Lac. Points are understood for medical and spiritual nature, and are selected to aid the individual in discovering and living destiny (according to Taoist philosophy). This type of treatment is unique in that it aids healing from past abuse. For further information, please read Lonney Jarrett’s book Nourishing Destiny. Homeopathy: energetic healing based on an idea that “like cures like.” If you give a medicine that creates symptoms in a healthy person, you can also give the medicine to a sick person with that same set of symptoms. If you get the right remedy, a shift in the disease or mental state will occur, progressing the patient towards a resolution of symptoms. Nutrition: dietary and supplement evaluations and suggestions. Diet is one of the most important factors to consider in considering cause of disease. Herbal therapies: these can be offered as alternative to some medications but excel when used as nutrition and support. May also be used topically. Physical medicine: a vital modality not to miss. Includes the evaluation of the spine as a possible cause of pain, discomfort, or muscle spasms. Constitutional hydrotherapy: a system of treatment started by Father Kneipp in Europe in the 1800s. A tradition kept alive by Dr. Letita Watrous, ND, of Spokane, Washington, and now by the physicians of Naturopaths International. Is a 45-60 minute treatment employing the use of hot and cold towels with a low electrical current to the upper and lower abdomen. The result is a stimulation of physiological processes, leading to increased circulation, increased immune system function, reduced stress, increased vitality, and increased lymph flow. Fantastic for chronic or acute lung problems, low energy, detoxification, or a sluggish immune system. Mind/Body therapy: meditation, mind/body discussion groups for children, imagery IV/IM nutrition: vitamins and minerals delivered right into your bloodstream, excellent for those with poor digestion, autoimmune diseases, or stress |
