Nicolette Sachs, M.S.W., LCSW Nicolette
practices as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She moved to Flagstaff
with her family 12 years ago from Colorado.
Niki, as many call her, has been in private practice locally for
over 10 years. She loves
working with people, by helping them cultivate their own strengths to
improve their lives, through individual therapy sessions, couples or
family sessions, and also in a group format.
With over 20 years of practice experience in her field, Niki
utilizes pieces from several theoretical approaches, tailoring her work to
meet each client’s unique needs. She
specializes in working with adults, ages 18 and over. As
a growing part of her practice, Niki teaches Mindfulness Based Stress
Reduction. This course is
modeled on MBSR developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of
Massachusetts Medical Center. The
course is taught in a group format, meeting weekly for 8 consecutive
weeks. Mindfulness is a way
of waking up to your life, of learning to relate directly to whatever is
happening in your life. This
course has helped many people learn to consciously work with their own
stress, pain, illness, and the challenges of daily life.
Niki has been teaching Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction during
the past 4 years. Niki has been licensed in Arizona since 1995. She earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Denver with honorable recognition in 1987. Prior to that, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in International Marketing from the University of Colorado, Boulder. After earning her Master’s degree, Niki worked in an adolescent day treatment center, a community mental health center, on an intensive family treatment team, and for a psychiatric hospital. These valuable experiences have helped her to develop her current private practice. It is with enthusiasm that Niki brings her gifts to the formulation of Mountain Waves Healing Arts. |
