Amal Lana, LMT

Amal Lana is a Licensed Massage Therapist having graduated from The Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA) in 2007.  She is also trained and certified in WATSU®, a form of aquatic bodywork, which happens to be her favorite therapy to offer. She is a certified member of the Aquatic Exercise Association, certified through the Arthritis Foundation (aquatic program) and a member of the International Massage Association

Amal (pronounced like "M.L.") has been teaching aqua classes of all types since 2003; including aerobics, step, boxing, arthritis, bariatrics, noodle, yoga, Pilates, stretch, deep, shallow, prenatal and dance.  She has been providing her healing classes at the Flagstaff Athletic Club (since 2003), Continental Country Club (since 2004), Forest Highlands (since 2004), Flagstaff Medical Center (since 2005), and the Wall Aquatic Center of Northern Arizona University (since 2005).

Her journey into the healing arts began at an early age through the hands of her Grandfather (her ‘Sido’) who blended medicinal herbs and oils in his basement and also offered hot-spring massages to his friends and family.  With this unknowing introduction, and after attending Michael Tierra’s East/West Herb Course, Amal eventually started her own business selling handmade candles, massage oils, incenses, dried and live herbs and spices, and eco-friendly accessories.  Today she is living the more hands-on aspects of her therapies at Mountain Waves Healing Arts where she is available for AquaZaé and traditional massage & bodywork modalities.

Amal has traveled around the Middle East, visiting the lands of her family, and currently lives nestled in the trees of Mountainaire with her children and a cat that adopted them. When she is not helping others, she can often be found entranced in music and shakin’ it on her rollerskates.
